Sekkuwa.org conducts research on Coconut Oil. We have started our activities with the Traditional Coconut Oil Mill called Sekkuwa (Chekku). Sekkuwa was at most of the coastal houses in the ancient Sri Lanka.
The way Sekkuwa operates, though simple, is a complex technology that was a grand evidence of traditional technological knowledge in Sri Lanka.
Sekkuwa produces virgin coconut oil and we used it for our day to day needs. However, with the introduction of various commercial cooking oils, we have almost lost this technology and the traditional coconut oil industry in Sri Lanka.
Sekkuwa.org have reproduced this grand technology Sekkuwa at New Wellamadda Coconut Oil Mills. Anyone interest on the technology can visit it and see how it operates.
You can also buy a bottle of virgin coconut oil at cost of Rs 600/=. It would be better you make a phone call before you visit the Oil Mill because we have limited stock.
